Doom 2016 Story

Ok so... beat Doom. 14hrs, easy difficulty, did not actively chase collectibles/side objectives. Doom actually has quite abit of story to it, even without the need of reading all the collected pda tablets in the game. I got everything that follows from simply listening to the narrative as objectives were sent my way and in particular from the small interactive tablet things in hell where a Demon actually explained things.

The story follows the break so don't click this article unless you want to be spoiled!. Note : this is the story as I understand it, I did pay attention to it but could be wrong.

Space Engineers

Hey everyone, progress report in SE here! Woo! We've kinda taken a break from the dedicated server. The software keen has out right now for dedicated servers is quirky, buggy and hit or miss. Really long loading times, etc. Frustrating. The two folks on my server with me both have their own single player games running on the side so I decided to fire one up of my own.

Went with a easy start, survival with oxygen enabled.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

I can already see myself kicking my friends in the backside.

"This is where the trolling comes in. While Vincke’s co-worker from Larian was running around, doing deeds for a quest, Vincke decided to mess with him. First, he dribbled some poison into an otherwise perfectly normal-looking health potion and slotted it into his frenemy’s inventory. Then he put the town guards on high alert for illegal contraband, noting that he could easily acquire some and put that into his alleged ally’s inventory as well. The other Larian-er, playing a dwarf, was already number one on the guards’ suspect list due to the town’s history of racism against dwarves.
Later, he got into a battle with some mercenaries, and that’s when Vincke chose to strike. He gleefully ran to join the turn-based battle, dagger aimed right for his ally’s back. First, he attacked his friend directly, turning him into a screaming tangle of flailing limbs, beard, and fire. Then his friend went to drink the potion and, well, you can probably guess what happened next. It’s some Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck shit. Sometimes friends, sometimes foes, but you can expect a hefty dose of comedic slapstick regardless."

Hit Kickstarter, reached full funding in a matter of hours and apparently folks co-oping this one will be able to screw with eachother...

Space Engineers, 3.0 progress

Amazing really how out of control my creative side gets when I let it run amok heheh. This ship has considerably changed design at least four times yesterday. Most of the plan is ironed out in my head though so thats... a plus. Assuming I don't think up some new idea again.

Here we go :

Space Engineers 2.0b

Work in progress. With the upgrade to 1.0 complete I have found myself staring at 2.0, thinking about 2.0, dreaming up ideas about 2.0, you name it. The works. Now Original model both ships were essentially the same thing, with 2.0 just being bigger. 1.0b is still as originally intended, exploration class cruiser. With afew perks of course. 2.0b is actually taking on a role of its own, Carrier. Not the largest Carrier mind you, but definitely fits the bill while retaining all the production self sufficiency of the original 2.0.

Exterior is largely done though I am pondering weaponization.

Photos follow the break.

Space Engineers 1.0b Final

I'm comfortable in saying my light exploration cruiser is complete... assuming Keen doesn't spark an explosion of inspiration via future update heheh.

Photos follow.

Space Engineers, 1.0b

Long, long longggg overdue, yesterdays update added a feature that just gave me all the reason I could need to do some work on my oldest ship, 1.0 (still haven't named her, or 2.0 heh). Jump Drives are Keens way of handling faster flight in a game engine that simply isn't capable of letting us players go as fast as we would like. On the technical side, the game simply teleports our large (large only) class ship from point A to point B. Points A and B can be off GPS coordinates for precise flight or we can simply aim and fire. Its a very cool feature and well thought out. Other players can come so long as their sitting in a chair onboard, other ships cam come so long as they are landing gear of coupled. The ship will not hit anything when coming out of warp, infact the ship will stop about 5k shy. The more drives on a ship, the further you can go though also the more on your ship the longer your ships engines and gyro's will be offline (the drive recharges).

NOTE, jumping beyond the border of a non exploration save will result in the destruction of your ship and you (if in survival mode). Make sure you turn on exploration before using your jump drive!

Well, all that said, screenshots follow the break.

WoW 6.2 Rundown

I've been running around Tenaan Jungle for about a week and a half now. Admittedly it was initially very intimidating. There's a whole lot of angry everything everywhere, none of it likes you. However once I set about looking around and feeling it out, I'm enjoying it. Its Timeless isle with lots of angry orcs, a lacking presence of panda and even more things to do. What follows is what I've observed so far including my daily routine.

Revisited : Alien Isolation

Just completed a second play through of this awesome game after taking a break for afew months. This time I used Steam's streaming feature so that my sister who may or may not ever play this game completely through could watch it from across the country. Very cool, she described it as watching a really long movie!

Second play through was just as entertaining as the first but less scary jumping out of my seat action. My first play through I would describe as learning to dance, where every time you step on your partners foot they punch you in the face with their second set of teeth heehee! This second play through was more akin to a waltz. I waltz'ed across stages moving where I need to be and my sister was constantly amazed at the random nature of the ai. Occasionally other survivors would tap in during the alien and mine's dance but that always resulted in screams, cries, random gunfire and the alien rejoining me as soon as possible.

Another thing, I don't like hiding in lockers. If the alien is in the room I hide behind things, slowly move around things to keep Line Of Sight broken for the creature. I don't like hiding in lockers because your pretty much a sardine, if the alien opens the locker, its game over. If I am hiding behind things my flamethrower is a two button tap away and I almost always survive alien misencounters this way. Hiding in lockers is waiting to die. Nuff said.

The developers behind this masterpiece have been signed on for another game, no ones saying if its another alien title or something else. Fingers crossed for more alien awesomeness!

Here's some more random photo's I snagged, their over the course of two play throughs so not exactly in order. I separated them by play through, enjoy :)

First Play Through

Second Play Through
I had certain shots I wanted that I missed the first time, knew where to look this time around heh.

I finally got around to doing the two stand a lone DLCs Crew Expendable and Last Survivor. I REALLY liked Crew Expendable, I always felt that Dallas romp around in the ventilation shafts in the movie felt short like there was move to it that we didn't see and you definitely see it all in this DLC. Plus what happens in the last 25 seconds of the DLC, something that never occurred to me but makes complete sense looking back. Ash is an asshole.

The second DLC Last Survivor, didn't enjoy that one quite as much. Lots of little discrepancies between the movie and the DLC though as I understand it this isn't a retelling of what happened, its more akin to a simulator run by the company testing the validity of what Ellen claims happened. Thus the inconsistencies between the film and the dlc.

More Crew Expendable please, and a resolution to what happens at the end of Isolation would rock!

Now Playing: Craft the World

Dwarf Journal
Day one was off ta a pleasant start. Arrived at tha new world, just me solo. Me names Rarin' by the way, Rarin' ta go as I always say, hah! ... Ahh, well anyways. Learned ta chop a tree with a stick. Then how ta dig a whole, alsa figured out how ta make proper tewls for diggin and choppin and smackin things. Somewhere long tha way I 'level'd' up and another dwarf joined me party. His names Uter. Hey, hah. He's Uterly Rarin ta go! Hah!

We spent tha rest of the day learning ta make new tools and ladders and bridges. Then night hit and we learned that critters hide in trees and ghosts like ta throw acorns at us. Made quick werk of'em, never fear! Always know when ones around too, this worlds music changes. Funny, that. Craftin reminds me of ah easier take on tha days when my dwarf friend I used ta be on planet minecraft and planet junk jack. We have a 9 x 9 grid o course. An tha materials need ta be in certain sorts natural'y. Buuttt if we find what we want ta make on the left side an choose it, the 9x9 grid lights up wit icons so I don need ta guess! Thats a win!

Day two spent tha day choppin diggin, buildin ladders and bridges and smacking the occasional tree critter. There's always quests ta keep me and my clan focused, oh by the by. The clan is now four strong. We've started making armors and whut not. Another night based us by, more unpleasants. Think I'm gonna just focus on whut ever that quest log says ta do. Led me right so far.

Observations
. Fully talent tree in story mode and optionally if you enable it in sandbox.
. Talent tree unlocks by simply crafting in unlocked tiers connected to locked ones.
. Occasionally I find skill books that unlock literal skills for the dwarf I choose to use one on. Fighting skills, cooking skills, etc. Not sure just yet how to train them.
. Weapons and armor don't degrade here like in minecraft/junkjack.
. Trees and animals respawn periodically.
. Your dwarves can/will climb without ladders if there is wall in the background.
. Your dwarves also will accidentally fall off ledges, ladders, etc heh.
. hostile npcs will attack in packs! -fends off 5 goblin raiding party!-
. I've been getting random packages with usually armor in them. They drop out of the sky with parachute.
. Sand does not stay in its position if the block below it is dug out.
. Rain water accumulates!

Very engaging game, more to come.

This War of Mine

Trapped in a city warzone, military versus Rebels of some sort. Who knows. All that matters is that I can't escape, I can only survive. Strength in numbers during these times, my party consists of the following. A tv show chef. A football player. And a reporter who interviewed the football player at some point. Will we make it? Probably not. Will some of us make it? Who knows.

This game is deep, moody and oppressive and it kicks ass! This post isn't a review of any sort, just a journal of my experiences. Enjoy :)

Day 1
No tutorials to speak of, just three survivors in a wreck of a house. Since the reporter was on the lower level I set her about looting desks, dressers, cleaning up mess down there. The cook was sitting down so I set him to the same chores just on the middle floors. Football player? He knew the drill and was set to cleaning the upper level.

Pretty quickly on the reporter got 'mildly sick', I noticed the medical icon mid floor bathroom and sent her there but she refused to take the medication saying it was nothing more than a cold. I discovered the work bench, didn't pry to close in on it. Football player complained alot about cleaning up trash without a shovel, I'll make one once I figure out how! Shut it!

Night time hit, game goes to menu screen letting me assign each of my people to various roles. I sent reporter to sleep off her illness, football player on guard duty. No weapons but hey, he played football, hopefully he learned something. Cook I sent to a nearby cottage. This kicks in Night 1.

Night 1
Cottage is abandoned and listed as having plenty of most needed resources. Problem? Limited backpack space. Not knowing a whole lot about what I should be pursuing I just grabbed stuff in the front yard and basement entrance till his packs were filled and headed home.

Day 2
Returned from scavenging successfully. Nothing eventful at the house to report. Reporter is still sick, slept poorly and hungry. Football player, very tired from guarding all night and hungry. Cook? Same. Ok so basic necessities time.

Football player and Reporter I set to building two beds in the basement and put them both to bed. Good news, reporter is 'recovering' while sleeping in a bed! Cook I had build a basic stove and once I realized we had no food I just set him to rest at a chair in the kitchen. After afew moments I decided f'k it and sped up to Night 2.

Night 2
Let the reporter keep sleeping, I don't need anyone dieing on my after all. Cook is on guard duty this time, football player has more backpack space so for him its off to scavenge. The cottage available for a followup, listed as having lots of food. WE need eats.

At the cottage I figure things to be logical so I hit the kitchen... and noticed a purple pulse on the second floor. Its moving slowly around the hall and occasionally to what I assume is a second floor bedroom. I watch it for afew moments and then quickly clean out the fridge. Curious, I inch forward in to the main floor hall way and catch a glimpse of whats at the top of the stairs. A rat. Whew! I clear some debris, clear out a cupboard and then head upstairs. Up there is some more grabs and a locked door to the bedroom. I did notice a journal that mentions a pistol buried in the yard, will have to look in to that eventually but not today.

Day 3
I return home... to find out we were raided. F-k! Reporter is slightly injured, raiders were looking for weapons so didn't take anything because... well because we don't got no weapons just yet. Cook is alive and well, I put football player and reporter to bed, cook goes to cooking up what football player brought home.

Inventory appears central at the base, what anyone finds or brings home is universally available to all for any production of anything. Crafting things is simply a matter of having what you need and dragging the ghost of the object around the house to place somewhere.

A merchant showed up, talked trash, had alot to offer but I don't have a clear feel for whats priority so I passed on trading my stuff for his. Set the cook to clean up detail on the top floor after he was fed. Then remembered I was working on a work bench in the first basement a day back, never finished. Sent him down to work on that. Football player work up, fed him then used the stove to prepare food for Reporter when ever she finishes recovering. Night time hits.

Night 3
Reporter on bed rest, cook on guard duty, football player on a third run to that cottage, still stuff there. Ahh something new. Reading about the buried pistol actually gave me a new interaction icon in the yard. Got the gun parts, its broken but its a step.

Damn front door is barred still, tired of moving through the basement and today is the last day of that. Cleaned out the basement and got through the front door on my way out. Nothing unusual at the cottage. Same rat, same locked locker on main floor, same locked bedroom. Looted until I was full, returned home. Going to need at least one more trip out there. Note to self, bring lock picks.

Day 4
Thank god, nothing eventful happened. Reporter is still sick, but no longer injured. Very hungry so I woke her up, fed her, put her back to bed right away.

Someones at the door calling for help. Reporter and cook are asleep. Football player answers. Children, their mother is sick, needs medication that I don't have, sorry. Day goes by without incident. Note, Reporter is 'sad'. I seem to remember something about cigarettes cheering folks up, going to have to learn to make them or... find something else entertaining. Maybe she's just tired of being on a bed,

Night 4
I send the reporter out. Mildly sick but maybe it'll cheer her up. Got in to bedroom with lock pick, found cigarettes, also found two books. Hey book description specifically mentions uplifting moods. Will have to figure out how to put it to use. Also found pain meds in the place and bullets. I may soon send two folks out, try to finish off the cottage in a single run next time.

Day 5
Reporter is no longer depressed, cook is tired from guard duty and put to rest. Oh neat, base inventory screen has a journal summary on the right. Basically a in character run down of everything relating to the base and to my survivors. Football player and cook are sleeping, football player is slightly sick.

Reporter works and opens up the entire third floor. The bathroom has a door icon, locked. Time for some crafting. She's working on a pry bar, cook wakes up, I send him to do as he does with the stove. We are out of food stuff though, not good. I put the cook to busy work making a radio, send the reporter off to rest. Looks like we wont be following up with the cottage tonight, we need food stuff.

Night 5
Apparently I can only send one person out at a time to scavenge, bummer. Cook to guard, reporter to sleep, football runner to find food. Several locations on the map. A ruined Villa, described as occupied by folks who do not want to trade, stealing would be only option. I'm not to that point yet so I leave them and a 'quiet house' also on the map alone. Supermarket is described as having other scavengers in it but, will risk it.

Ok I arrive there and witness a conversation between three people. Two go in scavenging, third comes up armed with rifle but tells me there's plenty for all so not to worry. Thank god. A good haul, food and stuff.

Crap, ok lesson learned. If you don't clear out of the scavenging site before day time, your scavenger has trouble getting home because its not safe to scavenge during the day.

Day 6
Football player hasn't made it home yet. We were raided but nothing was taken. Reporter was injured again. Reporter and cook are very hungry and tired from attack, I put them to rest since Football player hasn't returned with eats yet.

Football player made it back in one piece, woot!

Third floor cleared out as well as second floor. Set radio up on second floor because reasons. Main floor is also cleared and looted.

Made a knife, will leave it for defense during the night when scavenging.

Night 6
Two new areas on the map. A small apartment building, also occupied and unwilling to trade. And 'sniper junction'. Plenty of everything there, for good reason due to how its earned the name.

So I went with sniper junction for kicks and its literally a wide street with sniper firing shots from a hotel way off in the background. Thankfully he is a slow reload so I just ran from cover to cover between shots. Came across a injured guy in middle of street hiding behind fountain, he told me the sewer entrance next to him normally gave full access to the big multi floor building up ahead but someone blocked the door down there. So I ran/duck/ran my way across rest of street and opened up sewer. He led me to his home, made sure his baby boy was ok and gave me free access to a loot spot under his bed. Five diamonds! I bet I can get good crap with that next time trading presents itself!

Backpack full, back to home I go.

Day 7
Damn it! I was running out of time so tried to sprint across the street, Football player took a bullet one inch from cover. And this stumbled him, causing me to miss day light and.... he's out there solo again. He made it back though thank fully. Fed and put to bed. Trader showed up. Those five diamonds got me all the food the guy had plus abunch of construction materials. Win!

Almost have what I need for fortifying the house, will hit the cottage up for a quick easy tonight. Note, helping the father at the sniper junction has made everyone in my group content. Win!

Night 8
Got what I need from cottage and side note, one more trip there will clear it permanently.

Day 8
Reporter is no longer slightly sick. She's 'sick'. Gave her medication, put her to bed. Fortified the house a bit. Got a visitor, a teacher looking for shelter. She offered to take care of children that we might have. Odd. Turned her down, I honestly don't see the benefit of anymore than I already have since I can't send more than one person out scavenging.

Day 9
Stayed in last night, got an achievement. Football player injuries are looking worse, bandaged and medicated him, fed him and put him back to bed. Reporter is injured still from raid afew days ago, hasn't gotten out of bed, she's also sick. I'm two man weak, my cook is very tired, didn't go out so can't make a third bed. Two kids showed up, asking for help taking their injured mother to the hospital. Sure. Off ran cook helping them, hope that wasn't a mistake.

Night 9
Cook didn't make it back before night fall. Two injured? Sigh. Sending out reporter, she's less injured and I'd like to make a third bed. Quick run, finally cleared out the cottage.

Day 9
Figures I'm down to one man who is asleep, we get raided. They unjured him, figures. Took some food. Cook is back, fed and to bed with him. Reporter will have to tough it out abit longer, didn't loot enough to make a third bed.

Night 10
Fighting around the supermarket makes it inaccessible, bummer. Returning with cook to sniper junction, crafting mats. My goal? three beds, Everyone sleeps at day, everyone guards at night. Change of plans. Sniper junction also blocked off due to fighting. Haven't been to the shelled school yet, will go there. Didn't see anything other than rats. On my side of the locked doors and barricades all loot sites were empty. Other side of doors and barricades? Much better :)

Day 11
Final entry for this blog post, all three still alive, two wounded and sick. Working through it.

Reporting in from the Batcave

Ahh yep, that's I named my asteroid base in space engineers. No creativity, I know. But hey look who's writing this. I still haven't named 1.0 or 2.0 :P

Speaking of which, progress stalled on 2.0, got distracted by other stuff so no new photos to show off. Neck and head of the ship are present, but mostly hollow. I'll finish her eventually. What I have done was elsewhere. I overhauled the tail end of miner mk9, making her abit more sturdy.

The neck is stronger, a great deal more engines to keep her pointing in the right direction and some custom hot keys set up allowing me to turn rotors on and turn on forward thrusters at reduced output so she autopilot digs now. I wanted to do what I've seen other mining frigates do involving artificial mass and gravity generators to pull the ship forward, would of been very cool but currently not possible. Gravity generators can't be installed on small class ships. No worries, she gets the job done. Eventually I'll revisit the mk9 miner and add more armor plating to the tail end to protect all the engines reactors and whatnot but for now, she's solid.

On to power needs. I started fiddling around with solar panels awhile back, but a change in the skybox moved the sun rendering those solar panels useless. Moved them, changed skybox a week later to something cook, sun moved back to stock spot, again rendering my newly aimed solar panels useless. I'd use rotating pistons to manually aim them but rotating pistons are currently bugged so that's not an option. Instead, I decided to put to use a pipe that I recently ran between my brothers asteroid and mine. He kept hoarding construction components in his frigate out there, and I kept having to go get the stuff when he wasn't using it so frak it I literally ran a conveyor line from my asteroid to his. Walla, but that's old news. What is new is that I moved the solar panels out on to the pipe line itself. Works very well to be honest and I doubled the panels, half are at a slightly different angle so if the sun moves again, I got it covered.

On to the next project, I finally started surfing the workshop and furniture is just starting to show up. I've had the 'command center' of the batcave in position for awhile but it was empty, not anymore.

I've added five more mods to the server. Recreational, mess hall, medical, bunk beds, etc. Will begin fiddling with them as I expand the batcave beyond the confines of the asteroid :) And maybe figure out a better name. Here's afew photos of the batcave as she looks currently, enjoy :)

Will update again once the crew wing is installed :)
